Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary is the second largest Wildlife Sanctuary
in Goa and is located in Canacona takula of Goa. The Wildlife
Sanctuary was founded in 1969. This Sanctuary reminds me of
a poem that I read in my Xth Standard:
"Satpura Ke Ghane Jungle (dense forest
of Satpura)
Neend Mein doobe Hue Se (are full of sleep)"
Just like the jungles of Satpura range, Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary's
vegetation comprises of tall trees that do not allow even the
sunlight to penetrate. They also appear to be in sleep as there
are only animals residing peacefully and only a few people dare
to enter this dense and large sanctuary.
The vegetation of Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary mainly consists
of moist-deciduous type and semi-evergreen in some parts. If
you want to stay overnight in the Sanctuary, you need to take
a written permission from the forest department. You can spot
tigers, leopards, Gazelles, Sloth Bears, Porcupines, Panthers
and Hyenas on your visit to Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary.
