Bundi in Rajasthan was once a part of Kota and was ruled by the Hada Chauhans a branch of the famous Chauhan clan who ruled Delhi and Ajmer. History says that in 1193 AD, when Prithvi Raj Chauhan was defeated by Sultan Mohammed Ghauri, some Chauhan nobles moved towards the Chambal Valley and over powered the Meena and Bhil tribals to form their own kingdom of Hadoti, which later flourished as the two branches of Kota and Bundi on either side of the River Chambal. Surrounded by the Aravalli hills on three sides, Bundi, one of the tourist sites in Rajasthan , is enclosed by a massive wall with four gateways. With palaces, forts and legendary festivals, tours to Bundi has added a note of celebration to tourism in Rajasthan.
