History of City Palace in Jaipur

City Palace in Jaipur was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kacchawaha clan of Rajput dynasty. This palace in Jaipur became the residence of the royal family of Jaipur thereafter. The successors of the founder made several striking changes to the complex as a result of which it now flaunts a rich combination of Mughal and Rajput architecture. With courtyards, gardens, buildings and preserves of varieties of Rajasthani fineries like armors and weapons, this palace is one of the best attractions in the city

Features of City Palace in Jaipur

•  The seven-storied Chandra Mahal is well-decorated with of paintings, mirror work on walls and floral decorations. In the mahal ,  Sukh Nivas or the 'Hall of Rest', with drawing and the dining area, Shobha Nivas or 'Hall of Beauty' displaying gold leaf and mica decorations and Chavi Nivas or the 'Hall of Images', will impress you.

•  The Sawai Man Singh II museum, on the ground floor of Chandra Mahal in City Palace in Jaipur- hosts rare artifacts including miniature paintings in the Rajasthani and Mughal styles, courtly robes, weaponry, armor and carpets

•  You should also watch Krishna Temple located in the Jai Niwas Garden and Govind Devji Temple

•  Between Chandra Mahal and the Badal Mahal, there is a network of fountains on the path

•  There are two giant silver urns in the outer courtyard which were built for Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II because he carried these urns filled with water from the Ganges River when he went to England.

•  Mubarak Mahal built by Maharaja Madho Singh II in the 19 th century, contains the textile section of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. Also notice the gateway with grand brass door opening to a courtyard or the Diwan-I-Khas or �Hall of Private Audience'- a hall with a double row of columns with scalloped arches. �Diwan-E-Aam' or the �Hall of Public Audience', is decorate with Afghan and Persian carpets , miniature paintings and astronomical manuscripts in Persian and Sanskrit.
