Introduction to Mirza Ghalib Haveli
Mirza Ghalib, aptly considered the Urdu version of Shakespeare is perhaps the greatest of writers and poets of all times. His Haveli is there in Gali Qasim Jaan which is near the Ballimaran corner, one of the lanes of Chandni Chowk. It is here in this Haveli that this great poet spent the last phase of his life, from 1865 to 1869.The government acquired a portion of the Mirza Ghalib Haveli, reinstated it to its initial grandeur and built a museum in his memory. This museum preserves many things of significance related to the poet such as photographs, his letters and works as well as some of his personal belongings.
