Introduction to City Palace Complex
The City Palace Complex in Udaipur is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Many Maharanas over a period of time built palaces in this complex, but amazingly the city palace complex has been able to maintain a consistency in the architecture and designs and retain the complete feel. The City Palace Complex along with the beautiful palaces is a potpourri of terraces, rooms, corridors, and hanging gardens.
Attractions at City Palace Complex
The City palace Complex has the biggest and the most beautiful temple of Udaipur, the Jagdish temple. The Bara Pol or the Great Gate lies on the northern side leads to the Third Gate, the Triple Gate on the first courtyard. There are marble arches or �Toranas� between the gates. Beyond this lies the historical arena which staged elephant fights during the olden times. The main attraction at the City palace Complex is the oldest part of the city palace complex, the �Raj Angan;, built in the 16th century by Maharana Udai Singh. There are several mahals at the City Palace Complex, now preserved as a museum, preserving the beautiful miniature paintings, glass work, and antique furniture. The Mor Chowk has exquisite glass mosaics of peacocks, Manak Mahal has beautiful crystal and porcelain figures while the Bhim Vilas has Radha Krishna painted on the walls.

The City Palace Complex has many remarkable buildings, gardens and fountains. The entrance to the complex is through the Elephant gate or the Hathi Pol. There are temples and gates inside the complex too. Though the palace may look rugged from outside, the interiors of the palace lead to luxurious apartments, beautiful balconies, hanging gardens, towers and cupolas with beautiful view of the lake and the city.
