Aero India Show is a biennial exhibition of new offerings from
the aviation and aerospace industry in India. The history of Aero India Show reminds one of the first ever show that took
place in 1996 in the picturesque 'Garden City' of Bangalore
and since then, many such shows have been held in the city till
date.
Aero India Show boasts of being the largest air show-cum-defence
exhibition in South Asia. The event is organized by the Ministry
of Defence, India in association with DRDO, ISRO, Indian Air
Force and other such defence research organizations. Along with
air displays, the show also exhibits the latest civil and military
aircrafts from some of the leading companies in the world as
well as the Indian Air Force.
Ever since its first show in 1996, India Air Shows have come
a long way both in terms of growing popularity as well as the
increasing number of exhibitors and attendees at the event.
For instance, in the Aero India Show 2003 (4th Edition), around
176 exhibitors from a total of 22 countries had taken part in
the exhibition.
The event in 2005 (5th Edition) witnessed a sharp increase
in this figure from 176 to 380. More aircrafts and aviation
technologies were also introduced at the show. The Aero India
Show 2007 expects a far better response as compared to the two
past events.
