The palace in Chandni Chowk had been gifted to her by the emperor Shah Alam after he ascended the throne. He was so thankful towards her that he even conferred upon her several honorable bestowing in the royal court in front of the courtiers.

So, the Palace was erected and Begam lived there with her husband, a merchant by profession who later died and she took over after his departure all his assets and businesses and professed them with full efficiency.
