Introduction to North and South Block

The North and South Block in Delhi, also called the Secretariat Buildings lie on either side of the Rajpath on Raisina Hill. They are among the premium and most notable of Office Buildings of the world. The North Block hosts offices of Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance while the South Block hosts the External Affairs Ministry.

North and South Block -Special Events/

There are certain special events in the North and South Block that take place every year. During the national festivals of the country, at dusk, the North and South Blocks along with the Rashtrapati Bhavan are lit with floodlights and present a spectacular sight.

Other special events of the North and South Block include the Beating of the Retreat Ceremony that takes place annually on 29th January at the Victory Square or Vijay Chowk as it is popularly called, the vast open area at the foot of the Secretariat Buildings.
