Introduction
Lakshmi Narayan Temple, located on the west of Connaught Place is devoted to Narayana and Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. The temple was built as an act of defiance of the prevailaing caste system in India. The temple was open to all including members of the low caste as well as untouchables.

Janmashtami is one of the special events of Lakshmi Narayan Temple. Other equally significant events at Lakshmi Narayan Temple are Ram Navami when devotees from all over India visit the temple. Ram Navami is celebrated in the month of April. Friday is devoted to Goddess Vaibhav Lakshmi and it is a different experience to visit the temple on this day of the week.
