Hauz Khas
Feroz Shah Tughlaq repaired the tank built by Ala-ud-din Khilji. By and by several monuments including his tomb, a mosque a madrasah and several other unknown structures were built in this complex. Presently the whole area is known as Haus Khas or Royal Tank. It houses shopping complexes and particularly mention worthy is the cosmopolitan Haus Khas village.
Siri Fort
Built by Ala-ud-din Khilji, the Siri Fort is so named because it is believed that he buried the heads of 8000 Mongol soldiers here. There is no evidence to support this story. At one time there were palaces, gates and a hall of thousand pillars but it is nearly in ruins now. What remains are the south eastern gate and remnants of the Tohfewala Gumbad Masjid.
Kalkaji Temple
The surviving portion of this temple dates back to the year 1764. It is dedicated to Goddess Kalka Devi. The myth that revolves around this temple is that it is in reality three thousand years old and the Pandavas as well as the Kauravas came to offer their prayers here.
Lotus Temple
The temple has been so named because it is shaped like a lotus which is the symbol of tenderness and purity. It belongs to the Bahai Faith which is the world's youngest relihgion. They advocate unification for they believe that there is just one caste in the world and that is Humanity. The quiet and serene atmosphere of this temple is the ideal place for meditation.
Nizamuddin's Shrine
This is the tomb of the famous Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin. The original tomb does not exist any longer. It was rebuilt by Faridun Khan. The present one was ornamented by Shahjahan and Akbar. There are several other tombs and mosques in this area.
Chirag-i-Dihli's Dargah
This is the Dargah of the Sufi saint Nasir ud din Mahmud who was honored with the title of Chirag i Dihli. This tomb which has a square chamber supported by 12 pillars has a dome akin to that of Mubarak Shah. There are several other tombs, mosques, halls within the premises of this Dargah.
