About Adilabad
Created in 1905 as a sub-district of Sirpur-Tandur, Adilabad derives its name from the ruler of Bijapur, Ali Adil Shah. Located on the northern boundary of Andhra Pradesh and sharing borders with Maharashtra, Adilabad has three rivers flowing through it, Godavari, Penganga and Wardha.
In the olden days it wad ruled by the Mughals, Mauryas as well as the Satavahanas and Chalukyas of south India.
