About Kanchipuram:
Kanchipuram is located in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and is located at a distance of 71 kilometers from Chennai. Kanchipuram, known as the Golden City of a thousand temples, is one of the seven holiest cities in India. Kanchipuram was the capital of the Pallavas, the Cholas, and the Rayas of Vijayanagar successively. The Pallavas constructed some of the finest temples in the city during the 6th and the 7th centuries.

The Vaikuntha Perumal Temple is an important Vishnu temple built in the 7th century A.D. by the Pallava King Nandivarman Pallavamalla. Many inscriptions are found in the temple which is related to the wars between the Chalukyas and the Pallavas.
The other places of interest are the Kailasanatha Temple, Ekambareswarar Temple, and the 57 meters high Rajagopuram, one of the tallest towers in South India.
