Day 1: Arrival at Chennai, Sight Seeing at Chennai, Stay at Chennai
After your arrival in the city of Chennai, you will be receiving a warm welcome from our representatives. On that very day we will set out to visit the various tourist attractions in the city. The visit will include the famous Kapaleeswara temple and the Ashtalakshmi temple. Having come this far there is no reason to miss out on these remarkable places. Return to the comforts of your hotel at the end of the day's trip.
Day 2: From Chennai to Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram, Night Stay at Mahabalipuram
Early in the morning we will set out for Kanchipuram which is at a distance of about 80 km from Chennai. Here you will witness the superb architecture of the renowned Ekambeshwara, Varadaraja, and Kailasanatha temples. You will also be taken to the silk weaving factory and make sure that you collect on or two saris of your choice for they are simply unique piece. Towards afternoon, we drive to Mahabalipuram. After a good lunch, we visit the magnificent historical structures in Mahabalipuram. The five rathas and the Shore temple which has earned the prestigious distinction of being a world heritage site are all covered in the visit. You will surely be impressed by the exquisite sculptures that are displayed in the temples. You can also explore the beaches and the markets of Mahabalipuram in the evening. Return to the comforts of the hotel in Mahabalipuram to rest for the night.
Day 3: From Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry, Night Stay at Pondicherry
The day begins with a journey to the former French colony Pondicherry. The calm and serene atmosphere of the Aurobindo Ashram will surely have a very soothing effect on your minds. This will be followed by a visit to Auroville and the old parts of the city which still reflect the French influence. For the night we will halt in Pondicherry.
Day 4: From Pondicherry to Tanjore via Chidambaram, Night Stay at Tanjore
Immediately after breakfast we set out to visit the famous Nataraja temple in Chidambaram. Then we proceed towards Tanjore. After reaching Tanjore, check in to the hotel and take some rest. Then we will be going to the palace in Tanjore and later to the foremost tourist attraction in Tanjore and an architectural marvel - The Brihadisvara temple. This temple is one of the tallest in the world and is reflective of superlative architectural skills. At the end of the day, return to the hotel to take rest and get prepared for the next day's journey.
Day 5: Excursion to Velankanni, Night stay at Tanjore
Today we will be going for a day long excursion to Velankanni situated at a distance of about 100 km from Tanjore. The place is well known for its lovely churches. The Tamil Nadu Pilgrimage Tour includes not just Hindu Religious places but churches as well to look after the interests of pilgrims from all religions. The churches are simply magnificent.
Day 6: From Tanjore to Madurai via Trichy
Immediately after breakfast we will drive to Trichy. We will be visiting the famous Rockfort temple and the temple of Sriranganathan. Then we will proceed to Madurai. Being a pilgrimage tour, maximum time will be devoted to the Meenakshi temple. However the museum and the palace will also be covered in the trip. The Meenakshi temple is a splendid structure and is emblematic of the height achieved in the field of art and architecture by Tamilians. We will rest for the night in the hotel at Madurai.
Day 7: Excursion to Rameshwaram, Night stay at Madurai
The day begins with an excursion to Rameshwaram situated at a distance of about 180 km from Madurai. In this sacred place you will be visiting various temples. At the end of the day we will rest at the hotel at Rameshwaram.
Day 8: From Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari
Today we will set out for the southern most tip of India, Kanya Kumari. In Kanyakumari we will first be visiting the Krishnapuram Temple and several other beautiful temples to offer our prayers. After this we will check in to the hotel and take some rest before setting out for the rest of the day's outing. The colossal statue of Tiruvalluvar and the Vivekananda Memorial located on two adjacent rocks at the meeting points of Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean will also be covered today. Spend the night in the hotel at Kanyakumari.
Day 9: From Kanyakumari to Chennai
In the morning we set out for Chennai by train. From Chennai, all the tourists will either board a train or a plane to make the return journey back home carrying back memories of a wonderful trip.
