The Namdhapa National Park is located in the Tirap district of the Land of the rising sun Arunachal Pradesh. Its uniqueness lies in its diversity.
The nearest town is Margherita which is at a distance of about 62 km from the park. The park is not easily accessible. But it is precisely for this reason that the park has retained all its purity. The nearest railhead Ledo is about 58 km from the park. The nearest airport Dibrugarh is about 163 km away.
The Namdhapa National Park covers a large area of about 1985.23 sq km. There are three major rivers in this area and each of them goes on to join the Nao Dihing which is a tributary of the Brahmaputra. The flora and fauna of this park is truly varied.
It is home to a varied mammalian wildlife population. All types of large cats like the Tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and snow leopard are found in the Namdhapa National Park. The Himalayan black bear and the Red Panda which are found only in high altitudes are seen here. Some of the other animals which are found here are Mithun, Elephant, Wild Goat, Hoolock Gibbon, Assamese Macaque, Mongoose, Musk Deer, Takin, Goral and a large number of rodents like squirrels, porcupine and rats.
The Namdhapa National Park is the only park in the world which has different heights at different levels and the altitudinal variation is as much as 4,300 meters. At one level the height is 200 whereas at the other it is 4,500.
