Pench National Park is positioned at the knee of Satpura Range and the van of an immense aquamarine expanse, the Pench River. The government implemented its plan on tiger project and this region comes under that project.
The main aim is to ensure a safe breeding ground for the tigers so that they can breed and increase in number peacefully. Tigers being the National animal of India, this responsibility were shouldered by the Government for a number of reasons.
The most vital perhaps is the maintenance of an ecological poise of the nature that was bothered due to reduction in number of predatory animals. The 758 sq km area with its moist deciduous forest and dry deciduous tropical teak effectively shelters this feral creatures, if apt care is taken against the loom of poachers, number of animals would swell in a compound pace.
So, even if the seasonal pools dry up during summers, there is enough provision for these wild animals to survive and thereby boost in number. Leopards. Jungle cats, palm civets and Indian Civets are also enormous over here, while the flora mainly consists of the Mahua, Mokha, Tendu, Achar, Bija, Garari etc. 55 young tigers, 250 species of birds, and 39 species of animals are found here.
